It goes without saying that Save the Dates are by no means an essential part of your stationery order and if you have the majority of your information ready, there is nothing to say you can’t jump straight to the invitation stage. However, what they can do is provide you with breathing space. Let your guests know the dates you would like them to reserve, and the pressure is off meaning there is more time to plan the details, logistics and design of your invites.
Even if you don’t have all of your final info; sending out a Save The Date to your future guests means that they’re less likely to be snagged by someone else (and come on, your wedding is going to be the event of the year, right?). Just from chatting with other suppliers, and looking at our work and personal calendars, we're noticing that most of this year's weekends and many of 2024's weekends are already booked out with a myriad of events.
Our advice would be to send out a Save The Date around 12-18 months before your big day. However if you're getting married abroad, a longer lead time gives your guests plenty of time to start looking at travel and accommodation arrangements.
We have a range of physical Save The Dates that you can send out, bearing different designs, print processes and colour schemes. We also offer digital Save The Dates. Sending your Save the Dates digitally is the eco-friendly, more cost effective option, plus it’s instant - no having to queue up at the Post Office for all those stamps and then sending them off. It’s up to you whether you go digital vs printed, but either option provides your friends and family with the necessary information to make sure that they don’t miss out on your big day.
